Two Irving Park Businesses Secure City Grants for Revitalization Projects
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Irving Park ·
Irving Park's commercial corridor is getting a significant boost as two neighborhood businesses, The Hinterlands and Turn Back Time, have secured grants through Mayor Brandon Johnson's recent $33 million community development initiative. The businesses, located on West Irving Park Road, were among 58 neighborhood improvement projects selected citywide to receive funding.
The grants are part of a competitive application process through the Department of Planning and Development's Community Development Grant and Neighborhood Opportunity Fund programs. These investments represent the Johnson administration's commitment to neighborhood revitalization with a focus on equity and community-driven development. In announcing the awards, Mayor Johnson emphasized that "lasting prosperity within our communities begins with revitalization efforts that center equity, community-driven development, and each neighborhood's unique needs."
Neighbors can visit both businesses to support local entrepreneurship and see how these community investments are enhancing Irving Park's commercial vitality. The grant program continues to accept applications, with the next submission deadline for Community Development Grant and Neighborhood Opportunity Fund applications on February 13, 2026.
