Two New Additions Boost Uptown's Entertainment District: Mixed-Use Development and Gourmet Sandwich Shop Coming to Broadway
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Uptown ·
Uptown's historic entertainment district continues its revitalization with two exciting developments announced this week. A five-story mixed-use building at 4725 North Clifton Avenue has received official approval from Chicago's Plan Review Committee, while a new gourmet sandwich concept is preparing to open its doors just blocks away.
The mixed-use project, located at the intersection of Clifton and Broadway, will replace part of a large parking lot north of the historic Uptown Broadway Building. Developed by CEDARst Companies, known for their popular Flats developments, the five-story structure was designed by local firm Hirsch MPG and received final approval last week. The ground floor will feature retail space on the southern half closer to Broadway, with a residential lobby in the northern portion. The development brings 40 new residential units to the neighborhood, enhancing density in an area already well-served by public transit.
Meanwhile, food enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as renovation work nears completion on a new sandwich shop from the team behind Humboldt Park's beloved Humboldt Haus. The new concept (currently using the working name "Humboldt Haus 2") will join the growing "North Uptown" entertainment corridor that includes the recently re-opened Marty's, an expanding Chicago Magic Lounge, Meeting House, and Sofo Tap. Local residents are encouraged to follow Uptown United's social media for opening dates and special events celebrating these new neighborhood additions.
