TimeLine Theatre's New Home Nears Completion in Uptown, Grand Opening Set for Spring 2026
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Uptown ·
Uptown's entertainment district continues its renaissance with TimeLine Theatre Company's new home at 5035 N. Broadway now more than 75% complete. The state-of-the-art cultural hub, located near the CTA Red Line Argyle stop, is on track to welcome audiences in Spring 2026 with a landmark inaugural production of 'An Enemy of the People.'
The $46 million project transforms a century-old warehouse into a vibrant 33,600-square-foot performing arts center featuring a flexible 250-seat black box theater, exhibit galleries, educational spaces, and a welcoming bar and café open to the community. 'We hope for TimeLine to be a gathering place that adds to the vitality of the historic, rich, and vital Uptown neighborhood,' said Artistic Director PJ Powers, emphasizing the company's commitment to community engagement.
This significant cultural investment bridges two of Uptown's historic districts, connecting the entertainment district with the Asia on Argyle corridor. Residents eager for a first look can anticipate a series of grand opening events planned for March 2026, followed by performances beginning in May. The project represents a major milestone in Uptown's continued evolution as one of Chicago's premier cultural destinations.
