Washington Park residents, mark your calendars — spring is officially on the way, and the Chicago Park District's Washington Park facility is rolling out a fresh season of programming just in time. Online registration for the new spring session opened March 10, 2026, with programs launching the week of March 30, giving families and fitness lovers something to look forward to as the weather turns.

The lineup is packed. Youth can plug into the popular Park Kids after-school program running Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. starting March 30, while Teen Club and fitness offerings kick off Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. beginning March 31. The 345-acre park — one of Chicago's most significant historic landscapes, originally designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux — boasts two gymnasiums, a photography lab, a dance studio, a fitness center, a racquetball court, a game room, an aquatic center, and multiple sports fields, giving residents of all ages plenty of ways to get active this spring.

Whether you're a parent looking for quality after-school options, a teen ready to get involved, or a neighbor who simply wants to make the most of one of the South Side's greatest green spaces, now is the time to sign up. Head to ChicagoParkDistrict.com to register online, or stop by the Washington Park field house at 5531 S. Martin Luther King Drive. And as always, connect with your neighbors at the Washington Park Advisory Council's monthly meeting, held the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
