Chinatown's Beloved Dumpling Destination QXY Is Coming to Division Street — and Wicker Park Can't Wait

Dumpling lovers in Wicker Park, your moment has arrived. Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings — the iconic Chinatown restaurant better known as QXY — is on the verge of opening its second full-service Chicago location right in the heart of the neighborhood, and the buzz is already building.

QXY has passed all its inspections and is now waiting on final city licenses to open at 2018 W. Division St., according to general manager Jesse Li, who told Block Club Chicago last Friday that a soft opening could happen within the next few weeks. The restaurant has built a devoted following since launching in Chinatown in 2014, earning city-wide acclaim for its wide range of boiled, steamed, and pan-fried dumplings. The name itself tells the story: "Qing" means green, "Xiang" means good smell, and "Yuan" refers to a quaint place — a fitting description for what promises to be a cozy new Division Street anchor. The Wicker Park spot will run the same hours as its Chinatown sibling — 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily — and will welcome both reservations and walk-ins. Beer fans will also have something to look forward to: once the liquor license clears, QXY plans to pour classics like Asahi and Tsingtao alongside an exclusive lager brewed in collaboration with local Off Color Brewing, crafted with an aromatic herbal tea.

This is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated restaurant arrivals on Division Street in years. Keep an eye on 2018 W. Division St. for opening announcements, and follow QXY Dumplings on social media so you're first in line when those doors open.
