The Greek Freak Bets Big on Uptown — and a Michelin Chef's Tortilla Dream Is Almost Reality

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Uptown ·

Uptown is having quite the week for star power and star food. NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has now made not one but two major real estate investments in the neighborhood. After purchasing the 56-unit Harmony Apartments at 4513 N. Clark for $21 million in January, the Milwaukee Bucks legend — investing through his real estate corporation 'Ante' — added the Portrait Apartments at 948 W. Sunnyside to his portfolio at the end of March, also for $21 million. That's $42 million poured into Uptown in under two months, a jaw-dropping vote of confidence from one of basketball's biggest names.

On the culinary front, Uptown's Broadway corridor is about to get even more delicious. Chef Norman Fenton, the talent behind Michelin-recognized Cariño, is bringing Molino Los Hermanos to 4666–68 N. Broadway — a one-of-a-kind tortillería and taqueria just steps from his celebrated tasting-menu restaurant. The 2,800-square-foot space will feature a double volcanic stone mill and a 24-seat chef's counter, with plans to grind single-origin heirloom corn on-site this summer. The owners even imported a molino and tortilla machine directly from Mexico. And if that's not enough Broadway buzz, Marina's Supper Club — an elevated Puerto Rican dining and live music experience from Chef Eric Roldan — is also set to open at 4804 N. Broadway next to the legendary Green Mill later this summer.

From celebrity investors to Michelin chefs, Uptown's momentum is undeniable. Stay connected to every exciting development at exploreuptown.org and right here on Socialhood!
