A Chicago Breakfast Icon Is Coming to Division Street: Ann Sather Sets Its Sights on Wicker Park This Summer
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Wicker Park ·
Wicker Park's Division Street corridor is about to welcome one of Chicago's most storied breakfast institutions. Ann Sather — the beloved Swedish restaurant famous citywide for its legendary cinnamon rolls — is officially coming to the neighborhood this summer, taking over the former Yolk space at 1819 W. Division St. A sign in the window already confirms the news: the restaurant is "coming in July," a timeline owner Tom Tunney confirmed this week.
For Tunney, the move carries a deeply personal resonance. He's no stranger to Wicker Park — Ann Sather previously operated a Milwaukee Avenue location in the early-to-mid 2000s, and Tunney has said the neighborhood is familiar territory. The Division Street outpost will serve as the replacement for the longtime Belmont Avenue location, which is set to close this summer as a developer prepares to build an apartment building on that site. It will become the third Ann Sather currently in operation across the city.
The Ann Sather news arrives just as the Wicker Park & Bucktown Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 2026 Legacy Business Awards Mixer on Wednesday, May 13 — a reminder that this neighborhood takes deep pride in honoring the businesses that stand the test of time. Whether you're a longtime Ann Sather devotee or a first-timer curious about those famous cinnamon rolls, start clearing your Sunday morning schedules. Division Street is about to get a whole lot sweeter this July. Keep up with neighborhood news at wickerparkbucktown.com!
