Get Moving, Washington Park: The Chicago Park District's May in Motion Is Happening Right Now at Your Park

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Washington Park ·

Spring has fully arrived in Washington Park, and the Chicago Park District is making sure neighbors feel it. The district's citywide May in Motion initiative — running May 1 through May 27 — is bringing a burst of free fitness and wellness programming to parks across Chicago, and Washington Park's 345-acre Olmsted-designed green space is right in the mix.

The timing couldn't be better for families looking to shake off the indoors. Washington Park's fieldhouse is humming with activity this spring: after-school Park Kids programming runs weekday afternoons through June 5, while Teen Club, Junior Bears Football, and fitness classes give residents of all ages a reason to lace up their sneakers and head outside. On the cultural side, music, movement, and dance programming continues to draw neighbors into the park's historic refectory. And for families planning ahead, the park's popular six-week Chicago Park District summer day camp is right around the corner — registration is open now for a summer that runs from late June through late July.

With so much happening inside Washington Park's gymnasiums, studios, and sprawling green fields, there's never been a better Saturday to explore what's already in your backyard. Head to ChicagoParkDistrict.com to browse spring and summer programming, register for camps, and check upcoming May in Motion events. And stay connected with the Washington Park Advisory Council — meeting every third Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. — to keep up with everything growing in this incredible neighborhood.
