Your Mail Is Coming Home: Wicker Park Finally Gets Its Post Office Back on Damen Avenue

Good news for anyone who's been making the trek to Logan Square or Lincoln Park just to mail a package — Wicker Park's post office drought is almost over. Nearly a year and a half after the neighborhood's only post office quietly shuttered, the United States Postal Service is preparing to open a brand-new location right in the heart of the neighborhood.

A USPS branch is set to open at 1520 N. Damen Ave., inside the shopping center directly across from the namesake Wicker Park green space — and next door to Lou Malnati's, no less. A real estate brochure already lists the post office as an incoming tenant, and a USPS facilities spreadsheet for Illinois describes the 1,524-square-foot space as the "Wicker Park Retail Unit." The shopping center at 1500–1520 N. Damen Ave. was recently purchased for more than

6 million in a joint venture by Stocking Urban and Ashland Ventures, signaling serious long-term investment in this stretch of the neighborhood. The complex also includes the former Violet Hour cocktail bar space among its retail offerings.

While the USPS hasn't yet confirmed an exact opening date, the signage is up and anticipation is high.
