Shop Local, Hear Live Music, and Catch a Soccer PreGame: Washington Park's Week Is Packed With Fresh Fun

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Washington Park ·

Washington Park neighbors, this weekend is already delivering — and the fun is far from over. Yesterday, Saturday July 18, the park welcomed back The City Flea, the beloved pop-up marketplace that draws local makers, vintage dealers, and artisan vendors to the park's green spaces from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you missed it, mark it for next time — it's exactly the kind of homegrown commerce that keeps Washington Park's community economy thriving.

And tonight, Sunday July 19, the park's Summer Series continues with OTR Performs (5–8 p.m.) — a live music showcase that's become a neighborhood staple. All of this is made possible by First Financial Bank's Summer Series sponsorship, which is keeping Washington Park's calendar stacked with free, family-friendly programming all season long. Look ahead to Monday, July 20 for Jazz at the Park (6–9 p.m.), and Tuesday the 21st brings Trivia Night plus a Cinema screening back-to-back.

But perhaps the most unique entry on the calendar this week: on Wednesday, July 22, Washington Park hosts an FC Cincinnati PreMatch at the Park from 4 to 6:30 p.m. — a soccer watch-party pregame event that brings a major professional sports energy right into the neighborhood. Whether you're a fútbol fanatic or just looking for a reason to get outside, it's something genuinely new for the South Side. Head to washingtonpark.org for the full calendar, and don't forget the Washington Park Advisory Council meets every third Wednesday at 7 p.m. — your neighborhood, your voice.
