Uptown Keeps Building: Kids' Gymnastics Studio Swings Open, New Clark Street Development Proposed, and Construction Rises on Leland

Uptown's momentum is showing no signs of slowing down this July, with a fresh wave of neighborhood additions landing all at once. First up, young tumblers and their families have a brand-new destination to celebrate: Baby Gym — a New York import offering children's gymnastics with a "professional approach to amateur sports" — has put up graphics advertising its new location at 4806 N. Clark Street, the space formerly occupied by art school StudioUs. With padded floors, walls designed for safe tumbling, and a focus on younger kids learning gymnastics fundamentals, it's a genuinely exciting addition for Uptown families.
Meanwhile, the neighborhood's development pipeline keeps humming. A six-story mixed-use building with 95 residential units and ground-floor retail has been proposed at 4740 N. Clark, adding yet another infill project to Uptown's growing roster of new construction. And over on Leland Avenue, the five-story, 32-unit residential development at 936 W. Leland is now actively rising — foundation work is done and construction on the first floor is well underway, with concrete block already shaping the stair and elevator cores.
Rounding it all out, the beloved Argyle Night Market continues every Thursday through August — Chicago's only weekly street festival — bringing thousands of neighbors together each week for food, live cultural performances, and community energy on the neighborhood's iconic shared street.
