Free Live Jazz Is Coming to Wicker Park This Summer — and It's the Perfect August Night Out
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Wicker Park ·
Just when you thought the summer fun was winding down after Wicker Park Fest, the neighborhood has another treat in store. The Wicker Park Advisory Council is bringing free live music back to the park this August as part of the Chicago Park District's beloved Night Out in the Parks program — and the lineup is one for the books.
Headlining an upcoming evening concert in the park are The Do-Rights, a dynamic New Orleans jazz ensemble that performs throughout the Greater Chicago area. The band brings a full brass experience to every show, incorporating clarinet, trumpet, tuba, and even tap dance into their high-energy sets — pure summer magic under the open sky at Wicker Park, 1425 N. Damen Ave. The concert series is funded and produced by the Wicker Park Advisory Council, with presenting sponsorship from the Wicker Park Bucktown Special Service Area #33 (WPBSSA). It's a true community effort, and admission is completely free.
Looking a bit further ahead, the Advisory Council's monthly community meeting returns on Thursday, August 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Wicker Park Field House — open to all neighbors who want a say in what happens in this vibrant community. Whether you're spreading out a blanket for jazz under the stars or showing up to shape the neighborhood's future, Wicker Park's late-summer calendar is packed with reasons to get outside.
