Graceland West's Thrift Culture Grows with New Art Installation at Local Store

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Graceland West ·

Graceland West residents have a renewed shopping destination to explore as the neighborhood's thrift store celebrates its grand reopening on November 1 following a two-month refresh. The revitalized space will feature the unveiling of a striking outdoor mural created by Atlanta-based artist Arshaad Norwood, who brings a personal connection to the project as a former resident of the community.

Norwood returned this fall to design and paint a mural reflecting the theme of "Loving People, Loving People" that captures the heart of the community's mission to bring hope, dignity, and community to children, families, and older adults. His artistic contribution transforms the exterior of the store into a visual celebration of neighborhood values. The renovation project represents the neighborhood's ongoing commitment to sustainable shopping options while creating vibrant public spaces that foster community connection.

Residents interested in supporting this local establishment are encouraged to attend the reopening celebration, which will include the official mural unveiling and community shopping event.
