The CheckOut Hosts Special 'Cosmos Concert' for Graceland West Residents This November

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Graceland West ·

Graceland West residents have a special opportunity to experience one of the neighborhood's newest cultural gems at a discounted price this month. The CheckOut, the innovative music venue that transformed the long-vacant 7-Eleven at 4116 N. Clark Street, is offering neighborhood residents half-price tickets to their upcoming 'Cosmos Concert' with the code 'graceland'.

The performance will feature string quartets playing music inspired by space exploration, including pieces evoking orbiting satellites and the Apollo moon landing missions. The program also includes two striking works for cello with interactive video that incorporate human voices from the Earthling Project, a recording launched to the moon as part of the Lunar Library. Since opening in September, the venue has quickly become a cultural hub for the community, offering classical music concerts, cabaret performances, and film screenings in an intimate 60-80 seat setting.

Seth Boustead, Executive Director of Access Contemporary Music (ACM), has been actively reaching out to the Graceland West Community Association to foster neighborhood connections. In a playful nod to the venue's convenience store past, The CheckOut features 7-Eleven-themed touches including the original door chime and specialty slushies at the bar. Residents interested in experiencing this unique neighborhood venue can find upcoming events on the ACM website or follow the Graceland West Community Association on social media for future special invitations.
