Warner Park Gardens Unveils New Children's Pollinator Space in Graceland West

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Graceland West ·

Graceland West's beloved Warner Park & Gardens is completing the final touches on its newest green space – a dedicated children's pollinator garden designed to educate and engage the neighborhood's youngest environmental stewards. The project, which has been in development throughout the fall season, represents the latest environmental initiative from the community's active ECO-Green Committee.

The children's garden joins Graceland West's network of 11 native plant pollinator pathway sites strategically located throughout the neighborhood. These ecological installations serve multiple purposes – each absorbing over 2,000 gallons of stormwater annually while providing essential habitat for birds, bees, butterflies and beneficial insects. The Warner Park location, maintained by the Warner Park and Gardens Board of Directors and funded primarily through the Graceland West Community Association, has evolved into a cherished community space where residents enjoy the walking paths and benches throughout the seasons.

Neighbors interested in participating in the garden's final planting day or learning about upcoming environmental initiatives can contact the Graceland West Community Association at [email protected]. The garden opening continues the neighborhood's tradition of fostering community connections through environmental stewardship, providing families a unique opportunity to engage children in sustainability right in their own neighborhood.
