The popular 'Rogers Park and West Ridge: A History of Neighbors in Service' exhibit at Northtown Library has expanded its collection with additional cultural artifacts for the holiday season. Originally scheduled to conclude in October, the exhibit has been extended through December 31, 2025, due to overwhelming community interest.
The exhibit showcases the diverse ways West Rogers Park residents have built meaningful communities since the early 1900s through an impressive collection of historical documents including fliers, brochures, and newsletters. Highlights include materials from the Rogers Park Woman's Club and North Town Woman's Club, alongside neighborhood block clubs and community groups that shaped the area's development. The exhibition celebrates the successful partnership between the Rogers Park/West Ridge Historical Society and the Chicago Public Library's Northside Neighborhood History Collection, featuring items from the Rogers Park/West Ridge Community Collection that documents local families, businesses, organizations, and institutions.
West Rogers Park residents and history enthusiasts are encouraged to visit the expanded exhibit before the year's end. Those interested in conducting research on neighborhood history can contact the Northside Neighborhood History Collection at [email protected] to schedule an appointment to explore the extensive collection that chronicles the neighborhood's vibrant past.
