The CheckOut Music Venue Transforms Former 7-Eleven into Cultural Hub for Graceland West
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Graceland West ·
Graceland West residents have been flocking to the neighborhood's newest cultural gem, The CheckOut, which has successfully transformed the long-vacant 7-Eleven at 4116 N. Clark Street into a vibrant music venue and education center. The cleverly-named space, a nod to its convenience store past, has quickly established itself as a community gathering spot since its official opening this fall.
The former retail location has been completely renovated into an inviting space, as residents discovered during a special community meeting hosted by Seth Boustead, Executive Director of Access Contemporary Music (ACM). This project marks a significant milestone for the nonprofit ACM, which has been dedicated to bringing contemporary classical music to wider audiences for years. The venue now houses a music school, rehearsal spaces, and a performance hall, creating a vibrant hub for musicians and music lovers alike. For families interested in musical education, ACM is currently enrolling students for piano and voice lessons at this location.
Community members who haven't yet experienced The CheckOut are encouraged to visit during one of their upcoming performances. The venue maintains playful nods to its retail past with unique touches like specialty refreshments and community-focused events. For more information about upcoming performances or music lesson enrollment, contact the Graceland West Community Association at [email protected].
