Warner Park Unveils New Winter Reading Nook for Graceland West Families
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Graceland West ·
Warner Park, a beloved community green space maintained by the Warner Park and Gardens Board of Directors and funded primarily through the Graceland West Community Association, has just completed its newest addition – a sheltered winter reading nook designed for neighborhood families to enjoy throughout the colder months.
The park, which is 'funded almost entirely by the Graceland West Community Association,' has long served as a small community gathering space 'where residents enjoy sitting on the benches or walking the path.' The new reading area, featuring weather-protected bookshelves, comfortable seating, and solar-powered lighting, creates a cozy outdoor space where neighbors can exchange books, read together, and build community connections even during Chicago's winter season. Local woodworker James Harrington volunteered his skills to create the custom shelving, which was installed last week with help from community volunteers.
Residents interested in contributing to the community library collection or volunteering for upcoming winter activities at Warner Park can contact the Graceland West Community Association at [email protected]. The reading nook officially opens this Saturday, December 6, with a special winter story hour featuring local authors and complimentary hot chocolate for all attendees.
