The 1920s building, designed by architect George S. Kingsley, was previously listed as one of Preservation Chicago's most endangered buildings in 2023. The comprehensive redevelopment plan includes not only renovating the historic structure but also demolishing an adjacent one-story building to construct a new eight-story residential building. Together, these buildings will provide 80 affordable housing units for households earning between 30% and 80% of the area median income, addressing critical housing needs in the neighborhood.
