The CheckOut Music Venue Announces Winter Concert Series in Graceland West

Graceland West residents have an exciting new cultural destination with The CheckOut, an innovative music venue at 4116 N. Clark Street that has transformed the former 7-Eleven convenience store into a vibrant performance space. The intimate venue features a Yamaha concert grand piano with flexible seating for up to 60 audience members, and offers classical music concerts, cabarets, album listening parties, and film screenings. The clever space maintains playful nods to its retail past, including the original door chime and specialty slushies at the bar.

Access Contemporary Music (ACM), led by Executive Director Seth Boustead, opened the venue after receiving building permits in December and completing construction of their newest class and performance space. The organization is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, having commissioned hundreds of composers, taught musical creativity to thousands of students, produced hundreds of concerts throughout Chicago, and created innovative programs like the Thirsty Ears Festival and Sound of Silent Film. Following its successful grand opening festival in September, The CheckOut has announced a special winter concert series featuring contemporary classical music, jazz and cabaret offerings. The approachable programming includes musician introductions to each piece and Boustead's jocular emcee style, making these performances accessible to newcomers and music aficionados alike.
