By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Graceland West ·

The Graceland West Community Association (GWCA) is gearing up to host its innovative 'Sustainability Cycles' community event this Sunday, January 23rd, at Lake View High School. The eco-friendly cycling initiative will kick off at 10:00 AM, bringing together residents of all ages for a day focused on sustainable transportation and neighborhood connection.

The event features several interactive activities including a Bike & Bike Parts Swap facilitated by The Recyclery, where neighbors can give unused bikes and parts a new home. Children can build their riding confidence at the Kids' Obstacle Course hosted by Pedalheads, while creative participants can visit the Bike Decoration Station run in partnership with students from Quantum LEEP Academy. The day will culminate in an all-ages neighborhood bike parade celebrating cycling as an environmentally friendly transportation option. Organized by the Graceland West Community Association, established in 1979 and committed to identifying community needs and directing the future of the neighborhood, this event reflects the association's ongoing dedication to fostering community engagement.

Known for its beautiful tree-lined streets and dog-friendly environment, Graceland West continues to build on its reputation for having a friendly community vibe and excellent walkability. Residents interested in participating in this weekend's cycling event can find more information on the GWCA website or contact the association directly at [email protected].
