Former 7-Eleven on Clark Street Reborn as Graceland West's Newest Music & Arts Hub

A long-vacant eyesore on the neighborhood's eastern edge is getting a remarkable second act. Access Contemporary Music (ACM), a Chicago nonprofit dedicated to bringing contemporary classical music to wider audiences, has officially broken ground on its first-ever dedicated home at 4116 N. Clark St. — the site of a former 7-Eleven that sat empty for years.

The ambitious project will transform the shuttered lot into a vibrant multi-use facility featuring a music school, rehearsal spaces, and a dedicated performance hall. For Graceland West residents, the news is doubly welcome: not only does it signal a major investment in the local arts scene, but it also breathes new life into a property that long stood as a gap in the streetscape. Seth Boustead, Executive Director of Access Contemporary Music, is slated to update the community directly on the renovation's progress at the GWCA's upcoming Q1 Community Meeting on Thursday, March 13, from 7–8:15 PM at Quantum LEEP Academy, 1447 W. Montrose Ave.

The Clark Street transformation underscores Graceland West's growing reputation as a neighborhood where creative energy and community pride go hand in hand.
