New Grass, Fresh Start: Warner Park Gets a Turf Makeover This Summer in Graceland West
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Graceland West ·
Graceland West's beloved Warner Park is getting a little TLC this summer — and neighbors are being asked to help it along. The Graceland West Community Association recently announced that the park's lawn has been freshly reseeded, and the GWCA is kindly asking everyone — kids and adults alike — to stay off the newly seeded spots while the baby grass takes root and thickens up.
The turf refresh does mean a brief pause for one of the neighborhood's most popular summer staples: the GWCA's outdoor Yoga and Fitness in the Park programming has been temporarily postponed to give the lawn the time it needs to mature. It's a small trade-off for what promises to be a lush, revitalized green space that the whole community can enjoy for years to come — and the good news is that pollinator planting activities are continuing uninterrupted in a separate area of the park, completely clear of the new growth.
Warner Park, located at 1446 West Warner Ave, is a cornerstone of Graceland West's outdoor community life — serving as the check-in hub for the annual Garden Walk and a gathering spot for neighborhood events throughout the year. Keep an eye on gracelandwest.org and @graceland_west_gwca on Instagram for updates on when Yoga and Fitness in the Park will return to the schedule. In the meantime, enjoy a stroll around the park's perimeter and cheer on those tiny new blades of green!
