Pedal Power: Graceland West's Community Bike Event Rolls Together Neighbors, Schools, and Sustainability

Graceland West proved this spring that community spirit has two wheels. The Graceland West Community Association teamed up with Lake View High School, The Recyclery, Pedalheads, and Quantum LEEP Academy to host a community cycling celebration that was equal parts eco-minded and all-ages fun — and neighbors are still buzzing about it.

The event packed in something for everyone: a Bike & Bike Parts Swap and Donation with The Recyclery gave unused gear a second life, while Pedalheads ran a Kids' Obstacle Course to help young riders build confidence on two wheels. Students and staff from Quantum LEEP Academy hosted a Bike Decoration Station, and adaptive bikes were made available so every rider — regardless of ability — could participate. The grand finale was a neighborhood-wide Bike Parade, a joyful, all-ages roll through Graceland West's iconic tree-lined streets celebrating cycling as a green way to get around.
