Sound & Soul at West Ridge: Free 'We the People' Concert Is Coming to the Neighborhood This September
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Rogers Park ·
West Rogers Park neighbors have a powerful reason to mark their fall calendars early — and it's one that's equal parts stunning music and community spirit. The Chicago Park District has announced that Hearing in Color, a celebrated Chicago arts organization, will bring its resident vocal ensemble Chroma to West Ridge Nature Park on September 2, 2026 for a free public concert titled "We the People" — part of the citywide Chroma in the Parks series.
The performance promises to be anything but ordinary. Chroma's program weaves together contemporary classical compositions by Chicago-based composers, including Ayanna Woods and Jalen Scott, alongside reimagined works inspired by beloved artists — all united around themes of belonging, justice, and community. It's the kind of deeply intentional arts experience that feels tailor-made for West Rogers Park, a neighborhood whose very identity is built on welcoming voices from every corner of the world.
With August already packed — from the Glenwood Avenue Arts Fest on August 14–16 to the Chalk Howard Street festival on August 22 in the broader Rogers Park corridor — this neighborhood's cultural calendar is truly on fire through the end of summer and beyond. The September 2 concert at West Ridge Nature Park is free and open to all. Share this with your neighbors on Socialhood, and visit chicagoparkdistrict.com for full event details!
